Foster families in The Netherlands

Make the difference for a Caribbean youngster in the Netherlands

Some youngsters from Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba are temporarily living in the Netherlands — often without their familiar social network. For these youngsters, Youth Care Caribbean Netherlands is seeking committed (weekend) foster families or support persons in the Netherlands who can offer them a safe and familiar place to stay on an occasional basis – or, where possible / desirable, on a permanent basis.

What can you do?

As a foster parent or support person, you offer a youngster:

  • A warm welcome at weekends or during holidays;
  • A place to catch your breath, away from your everyday surroundings;
  • Recognition, understanding and support – especially if you share the same cultural background.

It is an advantage if you speak Papiamento or English or are familiar with the culture of the islands.

This is how it works

  1. It is possible to register via bes@expertiseteamcomplexezorg.nl.
  2. After registration, an introductory meeting, training and guidance follow, in collaboration with William Schrikker Gezinsvormen (WSGV; highly specialised youth care).
  3. Next, a suitable match is sought with a youngster who already lives in the Netherlands or who is arriving soon.

Do you know anyone in the Netherlands who may be willing to consider this?

Perhaps a family member, acquaintance or friend with a Caribbean-Dutch background? Share this message and help us to offer these youngsters a warm network.
