About ZJCN


Zorg en Jeugd Caribisch Nederland (ZJCN, Care and Youth Caribbean Netherlands) ensures accessible, reliable, and fair healthcare and youth care. In addition, we develop policy and legislation in the social domain. We do this together with the public entities and our partners in care and welfare, both in the Caribbean region and in the European Netherlands. In doing so, we take into account the culture, the small scale of the islands, and the distance to the European Netherlands.

Within the social domain, ZJCN focuses on topics such as:

  • preventing and addressing domestic violence and child abuse

  • strengthening social support

  • preventive care for youth and families

  • promoting a healthy lifestyle, for example by enabling sports, exercise, and safe outdoor play for children

Our goal is to build a future-proof system that meets the wishes and needs of the residents and is as equal as possible to that of the European Netherlands. At the same time, we ensure the legal safeguarding of provisions. Cooperation and tailored solutions are always at the core.
